Hi,

I am the happy owner of a brand new MSI P6N Diamond.

I got it because of the X-Fi & Vista Certified logo ( Am I a fool ? )

Well. I have all the latest X-Fi drivers installed from MSIīs driver download section.

Battlefield 2 just tells me that my hardware does not support X-Fi  wall

Help Huh
Anyone got any advice before I return the board ?

Thanks

read Moan Guide 1st.

OS running?
ensure your Battlefield 2 is up to date with latest patch available.
if you running Vista, have a try latest X-FI drivers:

X-fi + vista = less than stellar performance.

Vista doesn't have direct sound and all decoding is software based.

Creative ALchemy Project solve that by own way.

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

sorry I forogt the rest of my system config:
# CPU P4 3.73 Ghz Extreme Edition
# Motherboard MSI P6N Diamond with X-Fi
# Memory brand, Corsair DDR2 6400 4 x 512GB = 2GB
# Video card Asus 8800GTX
# Hard drive(s) Samsung 300GB Sata
# Operating system - Windows Vista Ultimate English
# Power Supply Thermaltake Toughpower 750W

Ok, so i downloaded the drivers from Bosskillers link (SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0002.exe),
but I get the following error:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program

Setup will now exit."

I have all the latest Vista & Battlefield 2 patches.

I have not found any drivers on creativelabs site that install, only the drivers supplied on MSIīs support site.

Thanks for your help

Isn't the X-Fi on this board some kind of 'vanilla' version? Just like the Audigy on the K8N Diamond's was a cut down version.

Perhaps its not supported by alchemy.

Well Vista + any creative sound card really isn't up to par with their horrible Vista drivers.

Have you got an XtremeAudio card? If so it's really a rehashed Audigy card, not actually an X-Fi, and will need different drivers. Be sure to uninstall the previous versions before you install new, use driver cleaner if you have it; Creative's drivers are dodgy enough right now IMHO anything less than a clean sheet tends to cause more trouble than it fixes.

[Edit NB you may also need the audigy version of Alchemy for sound to work properly.]

The P6N Diamond  has an X-Fi soundcard built into the motherboard.

Its the reason I payed extra for this motherboard.

Giftmacher: thanks for the tip.. it is an X-Fi audio card inbuilt. Those drivers u suggested didnt work either.
I get the same error:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program

Setup will now exit."

Hmm if it's an Audio chip those drivers should work... but Creative do seem to be having serious driver trouble lately. The only other thing I can think to try are the you pax drivers. They are hacked creative drivers to work on Vista so bear that in mind if you want to try them. Most people say they are a decent hold over until the official drivers get sorted out, so it may be worth a try.

I have a x-fi fatal1ty and I pulled it from my system with the horrible creative drivers and supporting software.  I ran the youpax stuff for a short while and finally got frustrated and pulled it all.  I run with onboard sound now and at some point will replace my pathetic creative card with one that is fully supported by its maker in vista.  MS sucks too for changing out the hardware sound layer in vista.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about but if I remember right BF2's Ultimate options requires the 64MB version of X-Fi. Also it's been awhile as well but I think I had to set (in Audio Console) my mode to Gaming before things were detected. I would make use of ALchemy! ;) Iz very nice!

I actually can't even install the MSI drivers (unless it is a silent install), every-time I clicked the setup it would never give me the install screen (if one exists). Also we can't switch mode on this it seems since there seems to be no Audio Console version for onboard X-Fi.

Yeah I noticed that..

In Vista, the MSI X-Fi drivers do a silent install.

but these drivers really suck as there is no interface for tuning & adjustment.
Also, with these drivers, you can not playback what is comming in through the Mike of Line in.

It says that the X-Fi card inbuilt on the motherboard is an X-Fi Extreme Audio card, but the creative drivers for the X-Fi Extreme Audio do not recognise it.

Lucky my card is not old.. I'll be returning it next week if I don't sort this out.

you can try forced install, extract self archive to desired folder(you will need winrar installed, right click on the executable file downloaded from creative and extract it, then from device manager update the sound card driver manually and point to the extracted folder)
